EMDR Expertise

Therapist Holly Earnest was first introduced to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization andReprocessing) during her practicum and internship year in graduate school. From the beginning, she was drawn to its structured yet deeply transformative approach to trauma processing.

Throughout her clinical training, she witnessed its profound impact on clients working through a range of concerns, from PTSD to attachment wounds. As she continued developing her clinical skills, Holly pursued formal EMDR training and began integrating it into her broader therapeutic work. Over time, EMDR has become a core component of her practice, allowing her to support clients in accessing and resolving deeply rooted emotional experiences with compassion and effectiveness. She has also used EMDR with children and holds a particular interest in its application with younger clients—especially in addressing trauma, emotional regulation, and attachment disruptions.

Holly has received additional training in EMDR for complex trauma and in the FLASH
technique, a trauma-processing approach that helps reduce disturbance with minimal emotional activation. These additional modalities allow her to support clients with layered, chronic, or highly distressing trauma histories in a safe and gradual manner.

Holly highly values the integrity of the EMDR 8-phase model and places particular emphasis on Phase 2, ensuring that clients are adequately prepared, resourced, and grounded before transitioning into deeper processing work. She has experience working with dissociation and is
strongly interested in how EMDR can be adapted to support dissociative clients safely and effectively throughout the healing process. Holly deeply values EMDR as a therapeutic modality and is passionate about its ability to help clients heal from trauma in a meaningful and lasting way.

Know Me

Holly Earnest is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (APC) in the state of Georgia and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Augusta University and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia.

Holly completed her clinical training in a private practice setting in Augusta, Georgia, where she worked with adolescents and adults across the lifespan. She has extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma-related concerns, including complex and developmental trauma, dissociation, attachment disruptions, nervous system dysregulation, and difficulties stemming from overwhelming or adverse life experiences.

Her therapeutic approach is trauma-focused and insight-oriented, grounded in developmental and attachment-based theory and informed by polyvagal theory. Holly integrates nervous system education into her work to help clients build regulation, safety, and resilience as they engage in trauma processing. She utilizes EMDR therapy and the FLASH technique to support healing while minimizing emotional overwhelm, particularly for clients with complex or layered trauma histories.

Holly currently serves adolescents and adults seeking trauma-informed care and is under the supervision of Dr. Hanna Cespedes, Ph.D., M.S., LPC, ACS, NCC. She offers in-person and virtual sessions at the Macon and Peachtree Corners, Georgia locations.
